The Mary Lyon Centre (MLC) at MRC Harwell is the UK’s national facility for mouse genetics and the use of mouse models for the study of human disease. The MLC supports in vivo preclinical research by providing expert services in the generation of mouse disease models, rederivation, colony management, phenotyping, clinical chemistry, and specialist experimental support for academic and industry partners. MLC hosts the National Mouse Archive (NMA), the only public mouse repository in the UK, which offers archiving and distribution services for genetically altered mouse lines. MLC also delivers training through Advance Training Centre, offering practical, hands-on courses and learning in laboratory animal science and mouse genetics to build skills across the research community.
